About this
Hello there. My name is brendan rutledge and this was my photo and word blog. It was where I posted some of my favorite photos and every once in awhile write something. But it isn't anymore. I rarely posted any photos here and never wrote anything. So for 2013 it is getting re imagined into a daily photo blog. The only catch is I'm going to only manage it via my iPad, other then the picture taking part.
I'm going to still take the photos via DSLR but do the editing and uploading via the iPad. The experiment is, can a photographer run a photo blog without a laptop. Very first world I know. But whatever. It's fun.
About me
I'm a sys admin/web dev/jack of all trades, master of none, etc... for a small software company in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Thats what pays the bills. I'm married with 2 cats.
My hobby is photography. I'm more passionate about it then I am skilled but that doesn't keep me from trying.
Why do I like photography
I don't know. I'm awful at explaining feelings of the heart and mind. I also wish I had some beautiful explanation. But I do not.
I've enjoyed photography ever since I had a photography class my senior year of high school. I didn't take the hobby on at the time because this was 20 years ago. Photography was expensive then. I put other simpler pleasures first. But about 6 or 7 years ago when DSLR's fell to a price my budget allowed for I was all in. And I haven't looked back. I love technology and gadgets. I love to create. Photography is a good fit for me.
What do I like to shoot
Just about everything. Animals, landscape, street. I would love to shoot sports but have little access to it. I'll do some HDR but don't really seek it out. I shoot all natural light, as I don't have the money nor the time to invest in strobes or learn how to use them. I have taken some lighting workshops and I've been overwhelmed (maybe not overwhelmed but at least whelmed) with what goes into it. I do have interest in it and maybe one day I will but currently there just are not enough hours in the day.
