Camerist noun
cam·er·ist ˈkam(ə)rə̇st
1. One who operates a photographic camera; a photographer.

My work is simply an attempt to create an interesting image. I never set out to take a specific photo. I do not always seek to tell a story with an individual photograph, but I would be lying if I didn’t hope for a story to emerge from my work.

I like to think that I don’t have a specific style. When taking photos, my default is to look at the bigger picture, but it’s also common that my eye catches onto a detail in a larger scene. A pattern or a shape. A shadow or a color combination. With either result, I’m also seeking to create an image I think most would look past.

I’ll be the first to admit that I rarely pass an abandoned gas station. Driving down a country road, it’s not usually the old farmhouse that catches my eye, but the way the shadows might fall off a ladder leaning against the garage. Driving through a city, it’s a blue mailbox against a yellow wall, seeing broken patterns, or finding a discarded umbrella. And like me, my art may be poorly composed with the details at the edges and the appeal unexpected.
